Making a visible difference in your community

What it is
Plalkin’ (pronounced plawkin’) is about heading out for a walk and picking up rubbish along the way.
It’s a simple, hands-on way to look after the community while getting those steps in.
How it works
The idea comes from a global movement that combines movement with caring for the environment.
It aligns with Freestylers’ focus on practical, hands-on community service, where people can get involved and make a visible difference.
Every bit helps, and every walk leaves the world a little better.
Where it’s happened
We’ve done some plalkin’ on:
- The Hume and Hovell Walking Track at Thurgoona
- Norueil Park, Albury
What’s coming up
We have an Easter 2026 activity planned:
Plalkin’ Wherever You Are
Head out with family, friends, kids, dogs, or whoever’s within arm’s reach.
Pick up any rubbish you come across and take a few photos along the way.
Whether you’re:
- bushside
- cityside
- or simply walking your own street
Every little bit counts.
What’s next
We’re exploring further Plalkin’ activities throughout the year, with ideas for May and August.
